Dartmouth men's hockey coach Bob Gaudet was named the ECAC Hockey League Coach of the Year as announced at the ECACHL Championships today in Albany, N.Y. The announcement was made at the tournament banquet at the Crowne Plaza. Mike Ouellette '06 (Kamloops, B.C.) was named the league's top defensive forward along with first team honors.
The coaching honor is the second of Gaudet's career. He becomes just the second coach in ECACHL history to win the award with two different schools. Gaudet was named the coach of the year while at Brown in 1995. He joins Roger Demment as Dartmouth's only other coach of the year.
Ouellette was given the league's best defensive forward award, a first for the senior captain and the first time a Dartmouth player has received the honor.
Joining Gaudet and Ouellette as league honorees were first-time award winners, junior defenseman Grant Lewis '07 (Upper St. Clair, Pa.) and sophomore forward David Jones '08 (North Vancouver, B.C.), both named second team.
