About Us
Our mission is to celebrate and share the heart of Dartmouth with the global community, and to give more people the opportunity to discover the Dartmouth family. We do this by sharing personal stories that highlight what makes our school timeless.
Founded by Dartmouth students in 2003, BuzzFlood is a student run organization dedicated to telling personal stories about special things people at Dartmouth are doing everyday, especially Dartmouth’s students. We recognize that Dartmouth is more than an education; it is an experience that is second to none. We also recognize that what makes the Dartmouth experience so special is the amazing things that members of the Dartmouth family - students, alumni/ae, faculty, and staff - are doing in the world. BuzzFlood seeks to foster a culture of celebration that honors these achievements and shares them with the world.
BuzzFlood is composed of two parts: the BuzzLine and Ventures. The BuzzLine collects and distributes stories of excellence. Recent examples include a story about CollegeVoter.org founder Sean Oh ’04, designer of the Ground Zero Memorial Michael Arad ’91, and New Hampshire poet laureate nominee Professor Cynthia Huntington. Another BuzzLine project, The Circuit, is a weekly calendar of both on and off campus concerts, movies, and parties.
Ventures sponsors programs and events to celebrate Dartmouth. Examples include compiling a list of research and books by Dartmouth faculty, compiling a list of famous Dartmouth alumni/ae, creating a Dartmouth e-greeting card, and sponsoring the Dartmouth Presidential Primary Poll.
The BuzzFlood web team: Nicholas Baum, Constantinos Neophytou and Jeremy Debate, won Dartmouth College's annual John G. Kemeny Computing Prize in the Team Software Design category for their work on the BuzzFlood site.
